“AutoKrAZ” has built the KrAZ-63221 truck-mounted pump unit (MPU-320) in partnership with “Tital”, Ukrainian company engaged in design and manufacture of fire fighting and rescue vehicles and equipment.  The special vehicle is used for bringing and maintaining reactor plant equipment in safe state in case of non-project emergencies resulting in long-term station blackout by delivering water to major water consuming units  (steam generators, cooling ponds, etc.). The contract for delivery of three of these vehicles has been awarded by “National Nuclear Energy Generating Company “Energoatom”, which utilizes the most state-of-the-art equipment and cutting edge technologies. End user will be South-Ukrainian Nuclear Power Plant (Nikolaev region).

The MPU-320 is mounted on the KrAZ-63221 6x6 off road chassis with forward-tilting hood. This all-terrain vehicle with payload capacity of 21 tonnes is one of the most popular models with machine-building plants of Ukraine and CIS countries. Extraordinary strength of the KrAZ-63221 chassis, variety of chassis lengths, transmission or transfer case power take off provisions make it ideal for various applications. The vehicle performs well over rugged terrain in various environments.

A body structure mounted on the KrAZ-63221 chassis is a special protective container, which makes it possible for mobile pump unit to maintain its functionality at 8.0 magnitude earthquakes (Richter scale) and ambient temperature from -40°С to +50°С. The special unit operates at atmospheric pressure ranging from 630 mm of to 800 mm of Mercury at a temperature of pumped medium from +5°С to +80°С.

The special vehicles were shipped to customer last week. A similar special unit is expected to be mounted on the KrAZ-5233BE 4x4 two-axle chassis cab in a short time.
