KrAZ’s Museum Resumes Its Operation on Occasion of Seventieth Anniversary of the Company

24 June, 2015

Late August KrAZ will celebrate its seventieth anniversary from the date of company’s formation. “AutoKrAZ” History and DevelopmentMuseum plans to resume its operation by this date. Within this framework we ask long-service employees, collectors, KrAZ trucks fans, Kremenchug residents to provide us with archival photos, documents and items related to the history of the automobile plant. Your historical materials will take rightful place among available items and add to museum exhibits.

It is to be recalled that KrAZ’s museum was created at the plant’s premises in summer 1947 as a gift of workers on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of October Revolution. Then it was a small room in the pant’s engineering building with dozens of exhibits, documents, photos narrating the history of KrAZ plant, its development and growth. A ceremony of Museum inauguration was not so solemn as its importance for KrAZ: a small group of engineers working in the same building gathered in lunch hour. A red ribbon has been cut, symbolizing museum inauguration in solemn silence as quoted by the plant’s newspaper “Avtobudivnyk”.

It was not until in 1970 that KrAZ’s museum was accommodated in educational building after its completion. Lots of attendees visited the museum throughout the period of its existence. These were numerous delegations from foreign countries, honorary guests of Kremenchug including pilot-cosmonaut Leonov, S.Rotaru, N.Kirichenko, regional and country party leaders, war veterans, schoolchildren, students, Kremenchug residents and visitors. A visit of newly hired workers to museum to get familiar with KrAZ history on the day of hiring has been a good tradition for many years.

Unfortunately, due to economical crisis in late 1990s of the past century that hit the company access for visitors to the museum was closed for a long time.

Museum of “AutoKrAZ” history and development is currently under repair, it is expected to receive its first visitors by the remarkable date.
