Military KrAZ trucks were transferred to defenders of Ukraine on the central square of the town in solemn ceremony as part of celebration of Town Day on September 27. Alongside events organized by the community, KrAZ exhibited its serial and new vehicles.
The number of KrAZ exhibits totaled to 31 units. Except the batch of serial military vehicles, including the KrAZ-6322 (6х6) и KrAZ-5233 (4х4) platform trucks, KrAZ showcased both military and civil novelties.
The novelties were as follows:
- specialized all-terrain buses for carrying personnel built to the order of the National Guard and border guars of Ukraine. Base chassis is the KrAZ-6322 (6х6) and KrAZ-5233НЕ(4х4 and 4х2). The body made by “Neftekhimavtomatika” (Poltava) has 22 seats. All the equipment is well thought out: from body armor protection, window protecting screen to air heating and cooling system, overhead racks, table and many other things to ensure protection and comfortable environment for soldiers;
- the Cougar multirole armored vehicle (4х4) designed for various tasks. The armored body and glass of the Cougar vehicle meet CEN Level BR6. Three lookout hatches and gun ports are provided on each side of the vehicle to shoot small arms without leaving the vehicle;
- new street sweeper mounted on a new KrAZ-5544Н2 chassis (4х2) (KATMERCILER sweeping equipment). The chassis has been developed in compliance with Development Plan for 2014 to achieve maximum harmonization and adaptability to different power packs and special bodies;
- the KrAZ-6511С4(6х4) grain road train with volume of 75 cu.m. is used for carrying bulk loads with specific weight ranging from 0,4 to 0,85 tonne/m? over all kinds of roads. This grain carrier underwent field and certification tests, preparation is currently underway to start production;
- the KrAZ-7511С4 (6х4) dump trucks that gives better payload capacity increased to 27 tonnes. It is powered with the WP12.400E40 diesel inline engine Euro-4 rated at 400hp, which can be adapted to meet Euro-5.
The KrAZ-5544Н2 chassis cab, the KrAZ-6511С4 grain carrier and the KrAZ-7511С4 dump truck are provided with the МАN can produced under license offering ergonomic working environment for driver: comfortable air-suspended seat, tilt and height adjustable steering column, functional dashboard and many other features to ensure better comfort and reduce driver fatigue.
The unique show truck “Krazy” was a highlight of the event, all day long there was a line of people waiting for their turn to take picture near it. This huge truck has drawn admiration of children and storm of emotions of adults. “Krazy-crocodile” is well known in Ukraine and beyond, it is a repeat winner of various tuning competitions, highlight of exhibitions and automobile forums.
People’s Deputy of Ukraine Konstantin Zhevago who opened the event said in his congratulatory speech: “I feel pride for the present day when the leader of Ukrainian heavy-duty truck building industry, KrAZ, achieves its honorable, responsible and worthwhile duty by building vehicles and high quality state of the art equipment very much needed by our country and community, I would like it to happen in peacetime than now during military actions.
Transferring these products to the National Guard and border troops I incline my head and bow before the staff and all these people who helped the plant to survive and keep technology and production in hard years after the dissolution of the USSR and people who are able to produce products that are much in demand in the world market.» Welcome address has also been delivered by General Director Roman Chernyak, Prime Deputy Mayor Viktor Kalashnik, nominee to the Parliament of Ukraine Nikolay Nesen, Major General of Border Troops of Ukraine Viktor Krivoy and Head of National Guard Procurement Department Colonel Viktor Oleynik.
Keys of 23 military vehicles have been transferred in solemn ceremony to officers. Mr. V.Oleynik said, accepting the keys: “ These trucks you are building for the national Guard of Ukraine have been tested in hot zones such as Slavyansk, Mariupol, Kramatorsk and many other towns. KrAZ trucks proved to be very reliable vehicles that helped save many. My special gratitude goes to the staff of the Kremenchug Automobile Plant, I am very grateful that you understand that every day of work is important to save lives of soldiers. On behalf of the Commander in Chief of the National Guard and on my own behalf, I wish to “AutoKrAZ” staff to stay strong in pursuit of their goals, deliver its vehicles to provide the army with its products in compliance with scheduled plan and program. »
This event has been attended by numerous journalists of local and regional mass media. A press conference was held for them where KrAZ officials and visitors of the event were asked many questions.
After the press conference, in the end of the event, convoy of off road KrAZ trucks went to deployment site.
